Researchers from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) are predicting that this years El Niño storms could be the strongest in 60 years.
Clean Your Gutters Before El Niño
Best Plumbing Services recommends cleaning your gutter 1-2 times per year. This is especially important in Inland communities of Southern California like Redlands, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside, Corona, Ontario, and Moreno Valley. When the rain season hits you want to make sure your gutters are clear of twigs, leaves, and standing water. Heavy El Nino rains could cause clogged gutters to overflow into your home or foundation.

What Is El Niño
Forecasters declare an official El Niño when they see ocean temperatures and rainfall from storms veer to the east. El Niño is a climate cycle in the Pacific Ocean that has a global impact on weather patterns.
The cycle begins when warm water in the western tropical Pacific Ocean shifts eastward along the equator toward the coast of South America. During an El Niño, the Pacific’s warmest surface waters sit offshore of northwestern South America.
Experts also look for prevailing trade winds to weaken and even reverse direction during the El Niño climate phenomenon. These changes set up a feedback loop between the atmosphere and the ocean that boosts El Niño conditions.
